Dak Lak and Mondulkiri strengthen traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation

On June 16, a delegation from Dak Lak province led by comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the provincial National Assembly Deputies’ Delegation, paid a working visit to Mondulkiri province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

The delegation was received by H.E. Kong Kimny, Member of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party of Mondulkiri province, and Governor of Mondulkiri province; H.E. Men Nguoy, Member of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Vice Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party of Mondulkiri province and Chairman of the Provincial Council, together with leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and armed forces.

Addressing the meeting, Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee Secretary, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended by Mondulkiri authorities. He highlighted the growing ties between Dak Lak and Mondulkiri, describing them as an important contribution to the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Cambodia. He noted that cooperation between the two provinces has continued to expand through delegation exchanges, friendship activities, and effective collaboration in safeguarding the shared border.

Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee Secretary, comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet noted that, following its merger with Phu Yen province, the newly established Dak Lak province has gained a broader development space and enhanced potential in agriculture, processing industries, logistics, trade, tourism, services, and marine-based economic sectors. Its strategic geographical position, seaport infrastructure, and similar natural conditions, combined with complementary strengths in agriculture and tourism, create favorable conditions for deepening cooperation between the two provinces in the coming period.

He proposed that the two provinces further strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture, eco-tourism, forest protection, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation. He also encouraged greater business connectivity, expanded cross-border trade, and closer coordination in maintaining security and public order along the shared border, thereby contributing to a peaceful, stable and prosperous border area.

Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet also expressed hope that the two provinces would soon review and renew their MoU to reflect the new development context. He stressed the importance of effectively implementing agreed cooperation programmes, maintaining regular exchanges between the two sides, and promoting people-to-people ties to make bilateral cooperation increasingly substantive, practical and effective. On the occasion, he congratulated H.E. Kong Kimny on his appointment as Governor of Mondulkiri province.

For his part, Mondulkiri Governor Kong Kimny reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the solidarity, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces. He pledged closer coordination in maintaining security and public order along the shared border, promoting socio-economic development, expanding cultural exchanges, facilitating high-level delegation visits, and organising exchange activities during major national celebrations in both countries. Such efforts, he stressed, would further consolidate the long-standing friendship and enduring partnership between Vietnam and Cambodia.

As part of the visit, the Dak Lak delegation paid a working visit to Dak Lak-Mondulkiri Rubber Company Limited and attended the Forum on Promoting Economic and Trade Cooperation between enterprises of Dak Lak and Mondulkiri provinces, organised by the Department of Finance of Dak Lak province.
