Dak Lak and Champasak Sign Memorandum of Cooperation for 2026-2030 period

On August 15, the People’s Committee of Dak Lak Province and the Administration Committee of Champasak Province (Laos) signed a memorandum of cooperation for the 2026-2030 period.

The ceremony was attended by comrade Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, comrade Somboun Heuangvongsa, Member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Board, Vice Chairman of the Champasak Provincial Administration Committee and Chairman of the Laos-Viet Nam Friendship Association of Champasak Province, along with representatives from agencies and units of both provinces.

During the 2022-2026 period, Dak Lak and Champasak maintained regular delegation exchanges, cultural and educational cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and investment collaboration, strengthening the friendship and ties between the two localities.

Building on these achievements, the two provinces agreed to sign a new Cooperation Agreement for 2026 - 2030 aimed at enhancing the exchange of management experience and scientific and technical expertise; expanding cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, culture, education and training, and human resource development; and promoting people-to-people exchanges to further strengthen the special friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two provinces.

The 2026–2030 Cooperation Agreement outlines key priority areas that reflect each side's strengths, focusing on: increasing delegation exchanges at all levels; expanding tourism cooperation; developing a trade promotion plan with a target of 15–20% annual growth in bilateral trade and services; strengthening agricultural cooperation; advancing human resource training and development; promoting cultural and social exchanges; and coordinating information sharing to support public communication efforts and joint action against crime - all contributing to a stable, peaceful environment for socio-economic development and security in both provinces.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dak Lak PPC Vice Chairman Nguyen Thien Van emphasized that for the agreement to be implemented effectively, the relevant agencies of both sides should promptly develop an action plan following the signing ceremony, identify priority areas for immediate implementation, and make full use of the Joint Working Group mechanism to monitor progress and resolve issues in a timely manner.

He expressed confidence that, building on the strong foundation established over many years, the relationship between Dak Lak and Champasak in the 2026 - 2030 period will continue to develop substantively, effectively, and sustainably, making a meaningful contribution to strengthening the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos.
